SELECTION The ceramic tile selection process evolves first around color, second, around style and design, and finally around price. Without question, today, color is the number one factor in the sale of ceramic tile. Color is personal, we all have our favorites; color is emotional because it evokes certain feelings; color is distinctive as certain environments call for certain colors; and finally, color is trendy as well...what sells this year may not sell the next. A distributor should ask oneself some questions about product. How broad is the color line? How many sizes, shapes, and textures are available? Compared to all the architectural products already available in the marketplace, does the product possess some unique qualities? If a distributor is not satisfied with the answers to these questions, he can obtain a proprietary specification when working with the architect, which, depending on the project budget, market and overall economy, can yield a higher selling price. Higher selling prices yield higher profits, and profit is what marketing is all about. |
